Establishing production Facilities in Ukraine

In August 2001 a new chapter in the history of Green Cotton began.

For a long period of time we have been using sub-contractors for the processes cutting, sewing, embroidering and transfer printing. But to keep up with the demands from the market, it was now time to establish our own production unit.

The city Lviv in Ukraine was quickly pointed out on the map. Based on easy logistics, low wages and high educated employees no doubt this was the best choise for our new location.

After several visits to Lviv, a building with more than 10,000 square metres placed in four floors was found. This facility had been used as a storage for chocolate and needed a renovation, to meet our demands. But the size and location of the building was perfect.

After buying the building, Green Cotton started renovating the first and second floor, and at the same time we began to find our new employees.

In April 2002 the first and second floor was finally ready for use, and a staff of 40 people was in place. Now, only one year later, the number of employees has grown to more than 300 persons, and we expect this to expand to more than 400 persons during the next half year.

As to the fourth floor, we have rented it out to a company, printing on textiles, and the third floor is reserved for future use within the company Green Cotton.
